Szentendre was the first place in Hungary where a demountable flood barrier was constructed as part of the 2.5 km long reconstruction of the inner city’s barrage, covering 333 metres of it. This structure is already used in several European countries, since it has to be mounted only in case of flood readiness. Within the reconstruction of the old quarter’s flood protection, the Danube’s riverside in downtown Szentendre was renewed too. The new wide riverside esplanade and the service road suitable for cycling create a livable common place in the town. The 1,3 billion forint project was 100% financed by European Union subsidiaries with our Construction supervision.
